My name is Amanda Reeves and I'm a creative with a passion for design. I'm living in the Atlanta area and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA in Digital Media. The degree program gave me broad experience in graphic design, web development, animation and video.
Currently, I'm working at The Weather Channel as Mobile Creative Architect, where I help define the mobile advertising space for our products. My work consists of designing and developing custom advertising solutions for iPhone, Android, iPad, Palm, Blackberry and mobile web, including cross-platform integration. I work within a team and utilize internal resources to improve and develop our ad products and custom solutions for external clients.
Before The Weather Channel, I worked at Scientific Games where I designed lottery scratch tickets and embedded art, then prepared the tickets for multi-million print runs on our high-volume printing press. I utilized illustration skills to create custom art and created new and innovative game concepts, many of which are still in use today (including the $500M Georgia Lottery ticket – their most successful ever).
I'm passionate about design in virtually every form. I look for inspiration everywhere and carefully save the most intriguing elements for future concepts, later deconstructing them to find unique pieces of code and design. I like the challenge of mobile platforms and work with product managers and application developers to optimize the user experience within the small environment. My strengths in brainstorming and developing innovative new concepts enable me to fluidly integrate advertising into the design across a broad range of platforms.
Over my years of experience, I've developed an action plan that drives the design process. It begins with a research phase to identify the client's key needs – which are usually challenging and sometimes hidden – and align them with critical goals. This leads to a hybrid phase where I leverage my fine art skills by sketching out ideas and thumbnails in order to flush out an idea, then translate that idea into the computer utilizing technical skills to produce a finished product.
My work features many large clients such as Toyota, Honda, GM, Allstate, Home Depot, Energizer, Sherwin Williams, Dunkin' Donuts, SC Johnson, Claritin, Tamiflu, Orencia, Tylenol, Johnson & Johnson, KAO Brands, Pedigree, Clorox and more…
My brainstorming abilities make me a natural leader and idea generator for groups throughout the company. Directly work with external vendors and partners through creative direction and project management. I've trained designers within my team and other teams on our mobile advertising products and guided them with best practices. Working with my team, we have standardized ad products, created one sheets for all of our mobile ad products and developed templatized solutions for the most common ad products.
